How do government and the private sector intersect? How should it?
My thinking is that both the government and private sectors are basically in cahoots, that’s how they make the money for most of the things that we are able to enjoy today. Like all the government funding for charities, Loans and research projects. Also if we didn’t have these two huge factors in our economy I think we would be way behind in the times. I mean at least right now we are keeping up in most of the technology. Like in our book it talks about the Railroad system and how most of the funding was either from government or more of the bigger companies, if I remember right chase bank was a huge factor back in the day and put lots of money back into the economy. So with that being said I think how the government and private sectors are being ran today is perfectly fine with me even if the intensions are to just make money for themselves but at least they contribute some times to notable causes.

I see Cody Hargadin’s blog as a straight shooting common sense look at politics.
I think his aim is to show areas in which government can improve; in a clear thought-out way. I find this blog to be easy to follow, to understand, and is very interesting to read. I would also say on a visual side of things that the layout of the blog is very well done, the images are well designed, which shows that a lot of work was done.
I find the emphasis on economics to be both refreshing and important. As I see it, most of the problems in the United States today can really be traced to some sort of economic cause.
Furthermore, with more failures of the economic system than ever (i.e. mortgage crisis and bank bailouts) it is a topic we need to discuss. I thought the point that was made about money separating the interests of the Democrats and Republicans was shockingly correct. After reading this I feel as though money has driven more of a wedge than I had really stopped to consider. I had always thought of my government as one greedy body, I never though about the possibility of different groups competing for my tax dollars.
As far as things that I thought could be improved, I would say the most important thing would be to expand each blog and give a little more detail. What is being written is really quite interesting and I would like to see more of it each time a topic is discussed.
I would say overall that I am impressed with what I see so far in this blog. The layout and design are very well done and user friendly, and the information is very well presented, easy to follow along with, and very interesting and relevant to what we are doing. I appreciate the straight forward writing style that doesn’t leave you guessing what the point is, and by doing it in a way that shows concern for people as opposed to anger towards government.
